Miracle Baby Haydee | Carrie Hall Photography

    05 February 2013

Last week I got to meet the sweetest little baby and momma!  After hearing their heartbreaking story I made sure to gift them with my free Thanksgiving session.  I hope you find a minute to read through this post, and have some tissues nearby...

Wesley and Jaime met in the year of 1999 and dated for a short period. They went on with their lives and didn't stay in contact with each other until the year of 2007. Wesley found Jaime on Myspace and they started talking again. They were living an hour away from each other and decided to meet up at the movies. Wesley proposed to her on that night of  May 21, 2007.  She said YES of course because she knew deep down in her heart that he was her soul-mate.
Jaime knew the night when Wesley proposed to her that she may not have him forever.  He was diagnosed with Astrocytoma, which is a form of brain cancer and had to undergo chemo and radiation. The only thing the doctors could do for him was prolong his life.   She took that chance because she knew in her heart that  God had sent him to her. Wesley and Jaime lived together for 4 years until October of 2011 when he had to have another craniotomy. After that surgery, Wesley was unable to even tie his shoes but he recovered very fast and was able to do things again.  In December of 2011, after living in separate towns for a few months, Wesley and Jaime found an apartment in Slidell, LA. Everything was going wonderful until March 17, 2012.  Thier lives were about to change when they found out Jaime was pregnant, after Wesley's oncologist told them it was literally IMPOSSIBLE due to his treatments.  Jaime was a high risk due to her age of 35 and they had to move again to Baton Rouge, LA.  Wesley and Jaime had a wonderful summer together until August 25th.

"I'll never forget. His MRI showed fluid on the brain and he had a 3rd operation done where they put a shunt in. He was released from the hospital at Our Lady of Lake and went to the Neuromedical Center for Rehabilitation and never recovered." -Jaime

Wesley passed away on September 23, 2012.  Jaime was due with their baby girl in just a few short weeks.  She moved back to her parents house in October and Haydee was born on November 13, 2012.

"How do you explain to your daughter that her father is in heaven?" - Jaime

Wesley always wanted a little girl and he got his wish. Her name is Haydee Annabeth. Wesley and Jaime talked about names before he passed away. Haydee comes from 2 places. The first place is the book, Count of Monte Cristo, which was one of Wesley's favorites, and second Haydee was Jaime's grandmothers name.

"It was very hard for me to hold her at first and sometimes it still is because she looks just like her father." -Jaime

Shortly after Haydee was born they found that her Oxygen levels were low so they immediately put her in NICU at Womans Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA.

"I was not prepared for the news I was about to be faced with." -Jaime

The pediatric cardiologist came to Jaime and informed her of Haydee's heart condition. When Jaime was 4 weeks pregnant, Haydee's heart didn't grow correctly. She has Coarctation of the aorta which means it is narrow, she has 2 valves instead of 3, and Ventricular Septal Defect, which means a hole in her heart. Haydee stayed in NICU for a few days until she was flown to Children's Hospital in New Orleans, LA. They there learned that she can live with 2 valves and the hole didn't require surgery and that it should close up within 6-12 months. Haydee did however require open heart surgery for the narrowing.
Her first surgery was on November 28th and the second was on December 1st. The first one they went in from the side of her and the second one they had to go in from the chest. She stayed in the hospital until December 29th, 2012.

Haydee is now at home with mom and her grandparents and she is doing greatShe loves her binky, swing, going for car rides, and snuggling with momma :)

"Nothing is ever impossible!! Haydee is our living proof!" -Jaime
